Cantankerous old Peter lives alone in his house in rural Ireland, until the arrival of a stray dog and a nasty summer storm bring two lonely souls together.

While traveling and painting around Ireland I befriended an old man described by some as a hermit. He told me that his dog had no name. But since he kept calling it "Dog", I told him that must be the animal's name. He disagreed.
This book is very special to me.
